Bio

Geoff is an architect and urban designer and has practiced for more than 30 years in Chicago.

He received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Chicago (‘77), and his M.Arch. from Harvard University (’82). Among other activities, he has taught architectural design and theory at University of Illinois at Chicago for over two decades. He has worked at a variety of scales, with awards for architectural detailing, design, and urban planning, and for his book on Italian engineering. He has worked in the both the public and private sectors, and managed large scale infrastructure and urban design projects for the City of Chicago. More recently, he has been deep in the archives of several artists and architects as part of ongoing research on the history of form.

He has taught on design, form, history and theory. Current interests include work on complex form, political unrest and cities, and architecture’s relationship to money.
