Protest
Looking at how people use cities, focus on dramatic moments. Protests are when public space is taken over, and people collect and their movements spatial. The phenomenon is temporary and transient, poignant and with long memories. Study has been done of protests at different times and places. Most are from the 1960s, mostly in 1968. Mapping was derived from careful study of hundreds of photographs, and generated as a representation of what happened.
Mapping was done at different scales - overall, and then close up to relate events to local morphology. In addition, timelines were constructed, identifying key events - both physical and political leading up to and during the protests.
